Team of HTC University Collaboration Program Reaches Finals of the $10 Million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE Competition

The Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE announced its ten finalist teams at EMBC’14 (36th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society)

The Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE announced its ten finalist teams at EMBC’14 (36th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society).  HTC Research VP Edward Chang is on the right-most together with C.K Peng to his left.

HTC, a global leader in innovation and design, today announced that the Dynamical Biomarkers Group has been selected as one of the 10 finalists for the $10M Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE, a global competition for teams to develop a consumer-focused, mobile device capable of diagnosing and interpreting a set of 15 medical conditions and capturing five vital health metrics.

Led by Professor Chung-Kang Peng, Founding Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, National Central University, Taiwan, the Dynamical Biomarkers Group is a “Dream Team” of world-leading Taiwan and U.S. physicians, scientists and engineers, including members of HTC. Working together, the team has been tasked to create a breakthrough personal healthcare device. The team plans to leverage the latest advances in diagnostics, sensing, wireless and cloud technologies to enable consumers to seamlessly manage their own care.

Not only are engineers and designers from HTC are participating in the competition, but the company is contributing extensive knowledge and expertise in the core mobile technologies field, including image processing algorithms, big data, sensing and HMI (Human Machine Interface).
